Organization Mission Statement
Ocean Crest Community Church exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in Campbell River, Port Hardy and surrounding communities.
The organization serves the following population
We support people who are homeless and hungry; are the working poor; those with mental health issues; and those who struggle with addictions.
The funds donated will be used to
If we are honoured with the donation we will be using the funds towards our Family Services Food Bank and our Community Feeding Program. Our Lighthouse is located at 1381 Cedar Street. It is here that we serve the homeless, seniors and the working poor each day from Monday – Friday. We serve lunch, they have access for showers, laundry and a free clothing closet. We have made some adjustments due to Covid 19 and are currently serving our lunches out our front door until further notice.
We have seen a huge increase in our food bank services and instead of families coming to the LH to access food hampers and pick them up, we are now doing it over the phone and delivering the hampers which is working great for those in insolation and we are also trying to encourage people to stay at home. With the added expenses that wasn’t in our yearly budget due to unforeseen circumstances any help would be greatly appreciated. We are having to stock our food bank shelves more frequently (every three weeks) and for the lunch program we are having to buy paper products and cutlery to serve the guests their lunch. We are also, trying to provide healthier options which comes at a great costs to help the guests with trying to keep them as healthy as possible during this pandemic.
The organizations current sources of funding are
Thrift stores, church donations and from our Annual Christmas Kettle Campaign for our Community Feeding Programs.
